Reasons you should walk more in 2011

Here are some reasons you should walk more in this new year.
 
Even though you may find yourself very busy each day try to set at least 10-15 minutes in your schedule to do some walking. It does not sound like a lot of time but it will do a lot for your body.
 
1.     It helps your heart. This is because walking lowers blood pressure, reduces cholesterol and helps in preventing strokes.
2.      Makes you more flexible. Walking is another proven method for you to get fitter and benefit from better coordination. You will also become less prone to accidents and injuries because it helps in building stronger bones, improved mobility and muscle control.
3.      Helps strengthens your bones. Walking is a weight-bearing exercise, which means it increases and maintains bones density, helping to prevent fractures and osteoporosis, while inhibiting osteoarthritis
4.      Make you concentrate more. Walking boosts blood and oxygen supply to the brain, as well as the whole body. It makes you be more alert, improves memory, creativity and problem solving skills.
5.      Takes off Fat. Walking helps you to increase your metabolic rate. Well, this shows that as long as you are moving, exercise and watch what you are eating, you can keep on burning the calories long after you stopped. So it’s true, it does help you in weight loss!
6.      Makes You feel younger, happier and live longer. Believe it or not, walking raises blood level of mood-enhancing chemicals like dopamine, adrenaline, beta-endorphins and serotonin. Besides that it keeps your skin toned and looks fresher by boosting the blood and oxygen supply to your cells.

i absolutely agree that walking is beneficial to the well being of our body yet alone our metabolism.Some mornings, when I am in a good mood i walk, for me personally it also makes me have a clear mind...and enhances my thinking and mood! :)

Hey not only walking but walking at a faster pace helps even more... gets your heart really pumping, burns calories at a reasonable rate etc.

This is a very interesting Blog. I totally agree with the fact that after a good walk it gets your blood pumping and you feel ready for the day. I don't think it makes you more flexible, but I agree that it builds endurance.

Walking is really a good way to get some exercise in but it's really not the speed I'm used to so I'll be jogging for the New Year. So walking works for some but it's just too laid back for me.

I guess walking is the first step to beginning an exercise routine which i plan to start soon.I think it allows your body to get accustomed to a routine because just starting an exercise routine without giving the body any warning can be very painful to your muscles and joints. Walking for me is also recreatonal and makes the mind relax.

I agree walking is a good form of exercise, but what do you do once you finish walking? Most people go right back to the couch and stop there. For me my exercise routine includes walking and then swimming..the continued exercise eliminates the fatigue you feel after just walking..it helps to walk with other persons as well..this way you hardly notice how far you have walked.

Walking is one of the best forms of exercise you can find, yes it burns fat and lower cholesterol but it also help with mental stability and most person doesn't know this but give it a try one day get up earlt in the morning take a 10mins walk. While walking you will feel like nothing else in the world matter at that time, and for the rest of that day you will be more relaxed than ever!

Walking is very beneficial to weight loss. Its not as exhausting as jogging and does the job just as well. I personally would like to make walking apart of my lifestyle but where I live there's a very steep hill that I am not very enthusiastic about climbing up after going down.

I totally agree that walking helps to create a healthier lifestyle. I belive however that the benefits of walking is somewhat dependent on the speed in which the individual is walks. For the new year, walking has become a daily routine for me,(on workdays).

Walking really helps you consentrate more? that's great. I even like the fact that it will help to increase the density of bones. Based on the benefits listed here i will definately start walking even more.

I do agree that walking is very important to good health. It is however very unfortunate that people, mostly the young, tend to drive almost every where they are going. I remember the days when I used to walk for half an hour to get to Sav from where I live. Up to this day, I still walk to most of the places I venture to. I find that walking tends to allow me to release stress and simply clear my mind. If I am in a bad mood, walking while listening to music is the perfect way to as they say, 'calm down my nerves.' I have seen the difference in my energy level, my chi and the fact that I have seen improvements in my health. Yes I have lost a few pounds by just walking and making it a semi daily routine. Walking for me did a great job as it gave me the ability to focus that calmness towards my panic attacks that I used to have frequently. Walking is so important and should be practiced more.
